Storing things can become really challenging when dealing with a small kitchen and gets a little tough to keep everything organized. But if done the right way, you can actually put every inch of your kitchen to best use without making it look cramped or cluttered.

By adopting a few storage ideas, which can mean organizing the stuff the right way, adding a few design elements or making some investments can ensure that the kitchen looks more spacious and organized.

FIRST IN, FIRST OUT ORGANIZATION RULE

The most basic rule to keep everything organized is to apply the “first in, first out” technique to your kitchen. Basically whatever staple is bought first should be placed ahead of its replacement. This way it will be easy for you to take it out of your cabinet or pantry without moving any other things. And you can also put labels on the jars, tupperware to keep everything known and sorted.

DIVIDE SHELVES INTO TWO

Storing all the dishes on small shelves doesn’t seem quite possible, but it can be made possible by adding a stacking storage shelf to it. It creates more room for all the dishes like your mugs and bowls. This trick always comes handy when dealing with less space.

PUT THE TOPS OF CABINETS AND FRIDGE TO GOOD USE

In most of the cases, the top of fridge and cabinets offers plenty of spacing for things to be kept but not everybody put that space to good use.

You can easily put the space above your cabinets to use by placing those occasionally used cutleries, large platters or any other dishes which aren’t used very frequently. And to make them look more organized and decluttered the best thing to do is to keep them in wire bins, this way it will look neat.

As far as unused space above the fridge is concerned, you can put that to use to form a custom storage cabinet, giving you more room for all the kitchen tools.

ADD SHELVINGS ON THE WALL

You can never have enough space in the kitchen for everything to be placed in an organized and practical way. Every space comes to use when in need. So why not add more to it by adding some shelves on the wall.

You can put those shelvings to use by placing some dishes, pots, or jars and any other thing which is most frequently used.

USE THE SIDES OF CABINET

If your kitchen comes with cabinets that aren’t attached to the wall, then you can add some pot rails, shelves to the sides of it to hang all those heavy items which are annoying to store like a cutting board.

You can also use them to hang all the tiny items that come handy and are a little inconvenient to store in drawers.

INSTALL MAGNETIC KNIFE BAR ON THE WALL

Believe it or not, but your knife rack consumes a lot of counter space. And when there is a way of freeing that space, why not go for it. Installing a magnetic knife bar is an easy substitute for it. Hang it vertically on the wall for it to be more functional.

Implementing these ideas to your kitchen is surely going to save you a lot of your kitchen space and will ensure that the kitchen looks better and organized.
